SMD Resistors
SMD Resistor is the scientific name of thick film chip fixed resistors (chip fixed resistors), commonly known as chip resistors. According to the production process, there are two types of SMD resistors: thick film and thin film.
Thick film is the use of screen printing resistive material deposited on the insulating substrate (such as glass or alumina ceramic), and then sintered to form. We usually see mostly thick film chip resistors, accuracy range ±0.5% ~ 10%, temperature coefficient: ±50PPM/°C ~ ±400PPM/°C. Thin film is made in vacuum using evaporation and sputtering processes to deposit resistive materials in the insulating substrate process (vacuum coating technology), characterized by low temperature coefficient (±5PPM/℃), high accuracy (±0.01% ~ ±1%).
Basic structure and characteristics of chip resistors
Basic Structure
Features: humidity resistance, high temperature resistance, high reliability, uniform size appearance, accurate and small tolerance of temperature coefficient and resistance value.
Naming method of chip resistors.
1、Naming of 5% precision: RS-05K103JT 103=10000Ω=10KΩ
2, 1% precision naming: RS-05K1002FT 1002 = 10000Ω = 10KΩ
R - indicates the resistance S - indicates the power 0402 is 1/16W, 0603 is 1/10W, 0805 is 1/8W, 1206 is 1/4W, 1210 is 1/3W, 1812 is 1/2W, 2010 is 3/4W, 2512 is 1W.
05 - indicates the size (imperial): 02 indicates 0402, 03 indicates 0603, 05 indicates 0805, 06 indicates 1206, 1210 indicates 1210, 10 indicates 2010, 12 indicates 2512.
K - indicates a temperature coefficient of 100PPM
102-5% precision resistance value expression: the first two indicate the effective number, the third indicates how many zeros, the basic unit is Ω, 103 = 10000Ω = 10KΩ. 1002 is 1% resistance value expression: the first three indicate the effective number, the fourth indicates how many zeros, the basic unit is Ω, 1002 = 10000Ω = 10KΩ.
J - indicates that the accuracy of 5%, F - indicates that the accuracy of 1%.
T - indicates that the braided packaging
Allowable error
Chip resistor resistance error accuracy of ± 1%, ± 2%, ± 5%, ± 10% accuracy, the most conventional use is ± 1% and ± 5%, ± 5% accuracy of the conventional is expressed in three digits Example 512, the first two are valid numbers, the third digit 2 indicates how many zeroes, the basic unit is Ω, so that is 5100 ohms, 1000Ω = 1KΩ, 1000000Ω = 1MΩ In order to distinguish ± 5%, ± 1% of the resistance, so ± 1% of the resistance of the conventional majority of 4 digits to express, so that the first three is to indicate the effective number, the fourth indicates how many zeros 4531 is 4530Ω, which is equal to 4.53KΩ.
Chip resistor E-24 and E-96 method.
E-24: 3-digit representation; error (accuracy) of 5% (J) representation.
E-96: 4-digit representation; error (accuracy) of 1% (F) representation.
